Recently Governor Wolf's administration announced that Pennsylvania is making the largest solar power commitment of any state government in the country under an initiative to produce at least half of the state government's electricity needs (PULSE), through seven new utility scale solar arrays to be built around the state. One of which is expected to be located here in York County.

Our live speaker will be Jessie Audette Muniz, Senior Director of Project Development at Lightsource bp who is contracted to create the solar arrays.  Jessie will share details about Lightsource bp’s approach to responsible solar energy development and the company’s solar projects in Pennsylvania (almost 50% of the new installations in 2020).  Lightsource bp (one of the largest solar developers in the world) is a 50/50 joint venture with bp (Formerly British Petroleum) and is excited to be a partner in bp’s transformation from an international oil company to an integrated energy company. By working together Lightsource and bp aim to enact real change on the global energy landscape. Lightsource bp is a global leader in the development, financing, and management of utility-scale solar energy projects.

This is a chance to learn about the latest innovations in solar energy development from a leading company in the field. Learn about Pennsylvania's new approach, the array that is to be built in York county, the social, economic, and environmental benefits of solar and how Lightsource bp incorporates agriculture and sustainability into the company’s solar projects.

Give Local YorkOur children are our future…join the Rotary Club of York and give a local child the safety, the enrichment and the joy of quality child care.  This year, the Rotary Club of York is partnering with Child Care Consultants to bridge the gap for working families in need of affordable, quality childcare.  Your gift will provide direct scholarships to the children who need it most, ensuring they enter school ready to succeed.  Give Local York donations will provide ALICE families – Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed – partial child care scholarships.  By ensuring their children are well cared for, we help their parents complete needed training and retain jobs so they can transition to self-sufficiency.  A current scholarship recipient shared, “Thank you so much!  As a single mother who is living paycheck to paycheck, with some months in the negative, this grant has allowed me to begin saving for future childcare needs of my children.  Not only have you eased stress, you are helping me get financially steady to manage our basic needs in the future.”  Please join fellow Rotarians and make a gift to this year’s Give Local York Campaign.  You can make a gift on May 7th at www.givelocalyork.org, or contact Lynne lmorrison@yorkrotary.org to have your gift invoiced to your Rotary account.
