Steven Martinez, the new Executive Director of the York County SPCA, shares how he led his team in developing a cohesive strategic vision that resulted in dramatic progress for our local animal welfare shelter. Mr. Martinez reflects on:
•    Creating the Best Practices Transformation, which is designed around four major pillars of change
•    Managing significant culture shifts while maintaining positive employee morale

In 2019, the York County SPCA experienced an internal earthquake. They hired a new Executive Director who brought with him a new leadership team and strategic vision for the organization. The new leadership team grew the organization’s “save rate” by over 24 percentage points in only a year-and-a-half. A remarkable accomplishment, especially given that most of their transformation occurred during the middle of a global pandemic. Some people will say the pandemic must be the reason for this accomplishment, but the truth is that a very wise strategic initiative they called their “Best Practices Transformation”, coupled with lots of hard work, is what truly enabled their progress.

Mixed Greens Salad (pre-set), *Beef Stir Fry and Rice, with Chef's Choice of Vegetable, Roll with Butter, Chef's Choice Dessert (pre-set, alternating choices on table), and Coffee or Iced Tea.
