United Way of Pennsylvania launched the ALICE Project, a statewide data project, in June 2019. This gave every community in the state a data set to explain how many people in the community are going to work, but still struggling to make ends meet.

Learn about ALICE in York County from Kristen Rotz.  We dig into the data and the survival budget for York County, and share what we know about how ALICE is impacted by the pandemic, as well as challenges on the horizon while our economy is destabilized by COVID-19.

ALICE® stands for Asset-Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. The story of those who live below the ALICE stability threshold are our friends and neighbors who live one emergency away from extreme vulnerability. ALICE cares for children in day care centers, the elderly in nursing homes and supports people with various disabilities.
