History made here in York - 275th Birthday, Rotary Club of York, PA, Meeting 7/31/2024

We celebrate York County’s and America’s birthdays and the anniversary of our nation’s first constitution! Rotarians, President Commissioner Julie Wheeler and Register of Wills Past President Bryan Tate, share how York County will be celebrating over the next four years, kicking off with York County's birthday in August!

On August 19, 1749, the County of York was created as the fifth county of Pennsylvania. On July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress signed and adopted the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia and on November 15, 1777, the Second Continental Congress met at the Courthouse in the square of York and adopted the Articles of Confederation, our nation’s first constitution, which formally ratified that the original thirteen colonies were now "United States of America."
