Weekly Lunch Meeting - 11:45am lunch buffet opens with the first bell at 12:15pm.
The program will be provided by Paul Thompson on "The Role of the Modern Presidency & Foreign Affairs".
Every citizen should have an opinion about the role and power of the U.S. President and the current state of the Presidency. Professor Paul Thompson has been immersed in that topic for four decades as a practitioner and an academic. He has been teaching courses on Homeland Security, the Constitution, and the Presidency for the past decade at Penn State Harrisburg. Prior to that, he was a professor of Law and National Security at the National War College. During the Reagan/Bush Administration he was a member of the National Security Council Staff and the Executive Assistant to three National Security Advisors. He also served as a Legislative Advisor to the Secretary of Defense and the Senior Counselor to the Chief of Naval Operations. The institution of the Presidency is a very dynamic issue, with York residents, in particular, having it as their legacy since 1787!
