The Gettysburg College senior spent her last two summer in New York City, interning for JP Morgan, where she recently was offered a full-time job.

Next year, Chido, as she is known, will be a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar at the London School of Economics. She hopes to apply all her knowledge to better the status of women in Zimbabwe, as well as to improve the economic standing of her country.

Chido’s beginnings were humble.

She was born in a small coal-mining town in Zimbabwe, but moved to the capital city of Harare at 14 after her father’s death.

Upon graduating from high school, Chido worked for the U.S. Embassy in Harare. There, she helped those seeking student visas for the U.S. It was then that she applied and secured a scholarship from Gettysburg College.

Rotary’s Ambassadorial Scholarships is the oldest and most well-known program of the Rotary Foundation; it was started in 1947.

What did you think about what Chido said?
