But you can help. Sharing resources with young school age children and their families in our community can make a difference.
The York City School District Literacy Nights are organized to support parents in promoting reading, writing, speaking, listening and most of all the love of interacting with books between parent and child. All of the families that attend these Literacy Nights will leave with books, for some the only books they may ever own, and goodie bags that make this interaction possible between parent and each child, in the best environment to promote reading - their own home.
This year the Literacy Committee's book drive, your donations of cash and books, will help support the district's Literacy Nights and ensure that all families will have books to read at home. Please stop by our exhibit as you enter the Mirror Room each week during the drive. Our goal is $2,000 in cash donations and as many books as we can possibly gather. Books for all age groups are welcome, but primarily for elementary age students. If in doubt, donate the book and we will put it to good use.
Thanks for your support. Community leadership counts!
